Sustainable Farm Practices

A Community-Led Path to Sustainable Agriculture

Sampark Sanstha has introduced innovative and practical farm practices in the tribal regions of Jhabua rooted in local knowledge and responsive to the challenges of climate change. These practices focus on low-cost, sustainable, and eco-friendly methods that enhance soil fertility, reduce input dependency, and increase farm productivity.

Key interventions include land leveling, soil improvement using pond silt, vermi composting, traditional seed preservation, crop diversification, drip irrigation, mulching, organic pest control, and kitchen and orchard gardening. So far, over 30,000 farming families have directly benefited from these initiatives, many of whom now serve as resource farmers and motivators within their communities.

Tradition Meets Innovation

Each farmer received customized training and farm planning based on their land type, needs, and available resources. With vermi compost beds, many farmers now produce their own organic manure, while some earn additional income by selling surplus compost.

Sampark’s farm practices are not merely technical upgrades but a community-driven transformation model that blends tradition with innovation. These practices empower farmers to become stewards of sustainable agriculture and agents of change, promoting climate-resilient livelihoods and environmental regeneration. The approach is inclusive, participatory, and deeply rooted in the local context—making it a replicable model for rural development in other similar regions.
